Meet the Founder of Goodness Gracious Grief - Nafeesa

Goodness Gracious Grief was born out of my own personal loss this year. I lost my sister, Saima Thompson to Stage 4 Lung Cancer in June 2020, in the midst of the pandemic. She was aged 31. After being diagnosed at 29 in 2018, as a small female family we formed the closest of bonds. We navigated the most difficult journey together until ultimately and suddenly, her time had arrived.

Discovering the extent of the online community during this year has intrinsically changed the way I perceive my own grief. I realised hearing about others’ stories was very comforting. At the age of 24, experiencing sibling loss is a relatively unique situation when it comes to your own network and can feel very isolating. I will be sharing more of my story plus the personal journeys of others through this space.

Goodness Gracious Grief seeks to be an inclusive platform for those experiencing loss to connect. I will be hosting creative workshops and supperclubs in 2021 so watch this space!
